Case study: clearing and grading for vermin cell fences

In July 2020, Thurkle's Earthmoving won a tender with the Murchison Regional Vermin Council on behalf of the Shire of Mount Magnet for the clearing and grading of two sections of land, being 12 metres in width and approximately 64 kilometres and 115 kilometres in length respectively, to enable the construction of a vermin cell fence. The cleared and graded strip was required to provide access for fence construction works and future maintenance activities.

Due to the fragile nature of the ground, our team carried out all clearing with expert care to minimise soil disturbance. The complete graded surface was clear and level with no holes, stumps removed, and windows split evenly over the adjoining ground. In areas of water flow, we pushed all trees and other cleared vegetation to the downstream side of the cleared area. Where there was old fence within the area to be cleared, we pushed it up into neat heaps outside the cleared area.

Our team was able to complete this detailed and specialised job within the allocated timeframe, and we provided highly satisfactory results for the client.
